Harvest Fest, Stone Barns Center, Pocantico • This Oct. 2 event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., celebrates the farm at its most fruitful. Families can enjoy farm-related activities such as sheep moving and turkey herding, as well as crafts, hayrides, cooking demonstrations and seasonal fare from a variety of vendors at a special farmer’s market set up on the property. There will also be live music around the farm featuring Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could, as well as theatrical performances by Story Pirates. Enjoy an array of corn-centric delicacies as well as a variety of corn-related activities and games like Konk a Crow and Ring a Cob. Compete in corn shucking races and learn how to make a corn husk doll. See modern and historic cooking demonstrations, watch English country barn dancing, enjoy live bluegrass music and have fun in a kid-sized mini maze, among other fun activities. Cornucopia begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Tickets are $16 for adults, $12 for seniors and $8 for children ages 3-17. The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, Van Cortlandt Manor, Sleepy Hollow • This is the Westchester’s most exciting fall event featuring more than 7,000 hand-carved, illuminated jack o’ lanterns. Wander along the Pumpkin Promenade and across the Pumpkin Zee Bridge and be mesmerized by a color-changing star show in the huge Pumpkin Planetarium.
